The Music We Made

Compared to today’s education we were very lucky to have been students at Enloe High School.  In my Junior and Senior years at Enloe there were great teachers.  Ms. Tongue, for English, had lots of patience, Mr. Leon Sexton for gym, kept the pressure on and Biology teacher, Irma Holland, I can remember her exuberance.  I can still see their faces.  The one that stands out the most in my life was Ms. Louise Wilson.  I truly loved her instructional attitude and the perseverance she endured to mold us into a whole.  She was a wonderful inspiration for a group of kids to make some of the most beautiful music together.  I am still grateful for her guidance to this day.

The chorus and ensemble actually recorded an album my senior year ('64 / '65). I lost my copy a thousand years ago, but occasionally the beauty of the music still rings in my memory.  I know it’s late in life, but please, I would love to digitize it for my children to hear. If there is anyone who remembers being in chorus or especially has a copy of this album, please drop a note here. I would love to make a copy to enjoy in my years remaining.  Thanks to anyone who can help. Of course I would cover any costs in shipping and would return it with a digitized copy for you as well.

[ADDENDUM 12/28/14] Actually I would be glad to make a copy for anyone interested.

I remember the songs we recorded were beautiful.  I can’t remember exactly what songs were on the album but if you can remember a couple of the songs we sang please post them:

Little Drummer Boy and Hallelujah (I’m pretty sure)

Tommy,

I have the album and have made a cd of it. I will be happy to send you a copy. Do I have your correct address on this website?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Ann,

If you are willing, I would love to have a copy of your CD.  I will be glad to reimburse you for any expenses.  The memories of high school days with the chorus and ensemble are among my favorites.

A super big “Thank You” to Ann Lawrance for providing me with the chorus/ensemble class album recorded in 1963.  I’ve been looking in all the wrong places for years.  It’s taking a bit of clean up to rid it of snap, crackle and pop (expected) but I’m working on it.  I’m experimenting running the music through an equalizer from one computer to record on another computer.  The fidelity of the album leaves a little to be desired.

As I told Ann, once I have done all I can to clean and enhance the music, I will be more than happy to give anyone interested a cd copy of the album.  It’s taking a bit longer due to a lingering earache (since Dec.15).  Four doctor’s visits and I still can’t shake it.  My earache that is.

Tommy, I had sent a private message to Ann requesting a copy of the CD -- and she agreed to do so. Since there seems to be some demand by those who participated in the choral singing, I am sure there will be several of us who would like to have the "cleaned up" copy. I certainly appreciate your taking the time to see if you can get rid of the majority of crackles and pops that exist. If there is any fee involved for shipping, etc., will be glad to cover any expense. However, it would be just as easy for you to bring a copy for me and those others who are interested to the Reunion. Again, thanks. Lloyd Joslin

Hi folks,

Turns out that my earache was actually TN (Trigeminal Neuralgia)!  This was misdiagnosed by 3 doctors?  One shot back in December would have saved me months of agony!?

But enough of my problems. Each morning I awaken is my first blessing of the day.

I have burned 6 cleaned up copies so far and can make more as needed.  Now there are a couple of bad spots on the CD as a microphone was bumped when it was originally recorded and a small skip on the record, but they are minor.  It feels weird to type 'record'.

They are FREE for the asking.  A small offering to help with the cost of a new turntable would be nice, but NOT necessary.  My old turntable sat unused in storage too long.

As everyone, my life priorities can change in a heartbeat.  So, unless I cannot come, I will be bringing copies of the CD to the reunion.  If you do want the CD sooner, email me @ tnhoney@nc.rr.com and we'll make arrangements.

I'm look forward to seeing old faces (that probably won't be familiar) and reacquainting with folks, so make those name tags LARGE.  LOL

Blessings and good health to you and yours,

Tommy
